Which pages did you read during this time (list page numbers)? Write a brief summary of what has happened so far. What do you know about the setting, plot, and characters already? Did the introduction catch your attention immediately? How so? If not, what would have made the introduction more interesting for you?

I read the first page of the Preface. This person is describing how he wanted a town so small that is just American. It reminds me of Earlham where people come together on Friday nights. He is in search of something new.
I read pages 1-16 today. So far, the main character, Robert Langdon, has gotten a mysterious phone call from a lab in Switzerland, and was flown there to investigate a murder. I know only a little of the main character so far. He is a college professor of religious symbology, and has written several books on the subject. The introduction immediately grabbed me, because it detailed a strange murder that the main character must investigate.
I read pages 1-3. There is a girl named Charlene and she got hurt in an accident. She lives with her dad; he is always working. The setting is at their house near woods and gravel roads. The conflict so far is that Charlene got hurt and her dad wants her to go walk to help gain strength back in her leg. The character Charlene is stubborn, and her dad is a workaholic. The intro was kind of interesting, they maybe should of started out how she hurt her leg. I think they would of grabbed my attention better.
I just was able to read the first two pages of my book. All I know is the girl is at a post office mailing a package to someone on a list. From the context it seems like she received the package she got anonymously and whatever was in it disturbed her greatly. The introduction was catchy, because you are eager to find out what is in the package.
I read pages 5- 16. My brief summary is he went and bought a signed tom brady football for 500 dollars and since he bought that he qualified for a drawing to make a though for a million dollars and he won the drawing so now he gets to try to make the through for the money. its in a small town and there is this girl that is his good friend. Money caught my eye immediately and made it interesting since i like money.
Page 6-14
A girl named Suzanne and another one of Ivy's friends think a guy named Tristan has the hots for Ivy. Ivy doesn't see it though because she doesn't think a guy like him would like a girl like her. He is athletic and somewhat smart. She is quiet and doesn't have to many friends. Not the popular one. Her friends insist that she goes to his last swim meet.
I read the 1st page of knights of the hill country. Talked about this kid on the football team and he could freeze time. He froze time while the ball was in the air and i'm assuming the he will intercept the ball and the team will love him.
I read pages 5-14. So far it's really just setting the stage and story line of the book by giving details of the past. So far, I know that Theresa loves to jog on the beach, is on vacation, has a 12 year-old son in California for 6 weeks with her ex-husband, and she is spending that time on the beach with an older friend. I also know her husband cheated on her and they were only married for 3 years. This is all background details of Theresa, though. It has her starting out on the beach in the early morning with some letters and a bag. It has to give background first, so I can understand why she's there. The intro definitely caught my attention. It started out strong and abrupt. I really liked that.
I read from 1 to 9 page. There are tow boys and its like 4 in the morning and they were at a party. They are both got a hang over and the one is still drunk. The one friend is wanting to go home so on the way they stop cuz the other boy wantos to got swiming in the river.
I read from page 11-20. Jacob find this magical mirror in his father's study that takes him to another world. This world is kind of dangerous but he ends up finding some friends. One day his little brother decides to follow him and gets hurt. Jacob doesn't like the life he is living and so the mirror is his escape from it all. it grabs your attention right away. It's fast paced and leaves you wanting to read more.
I read from page 1-5. Charlie West the main character just woke up from being unconscious and doesn't know where he is at. He is strapped to a chair and blood is everywhere...his blood...all over his shirt his pants he has burns and bruises and he isn't sure how he got the bruises and cuts he thinks its a dream and tries as hard as he can to wake up but he soon realizes he isn't dreaming..
I'm reading The Shining and I read the first half of chapter 54. So far in the book, the Torrance family has moved into the Overlook hotel to take care of it for the winter. They are the only people there and the hotel has a bad reputation for murders and hauntings. The hotel begins to come alive, playing tricks on Jack, Wendy, and their son, Danny. In this chapter, Danny discovers that his imaginary friend, Tony, is simply an older version of himself locked inside his mind. The introduction of this book was a little boring and nothing truly scary happened until about halfway through. The introduction is entirely necessary, though, so I wouldn't change anything about it.
I have read pages one through fifty-six from the book Showdown by Ted Dekker. So far, a man has appeared in the small town of Paradise Colorado. Within the first few pages, a different man has died. The first man, Marsuvees Black, claims to have been sent from God and does "tricks" to convince them that this is true. At the moment, though, the book has switched to a school that has dark and secret passageways that no one is really allowed to enter. Yet, a thirteen year old boy named Billy does. The introduction did really check my attention, I am already hooked on it. It is intriguing and mysterious and it doesn't stay on the same character for long. It is all written in third person, but it changes who it's focussing on often.
I read pages 1-17. So far i have only read the prologue. It is an interesting beginning and I still don't know who the main character narrating is. He spoke of his girlfriend though and where he worked. The beginning mainly focused though on dreams. If they mean something and what your dream is trying to tell you. All I know about the characters is that the narrator has a lot of imagination and he is a deep thinker. I don't know much about setting other then it was back in the day and plot has really started yet. The narrator did mention though that his story is about how his girlfriend leaving for work changed both of their lives forever. I think the introduction grabbed my attention. IT was intresting and I haven't read a book like it so far. It also made me think about dreams and stuff. It is really quite interesting.
pages 1-10
To Kill a Mockingbird starts of describing how the narrator's brother broke his arm. It really isn't that catching, but the more you read into it you find yourself slowly advancing into a story about so far what looks like a girl (the narrator Scout) and her older brother (Jem), their friend Dill, their father Atticus Finch, and something to do with a the Radley family and their house, which the kids describe as beat up old place that no one dared cross onto, because of the infamous Boo Radley. The story takes place in the South in a place called Maycomb County, and the plot is yet unclear. So many characters have already been thrown in at once, it makes me want to learn more about each one of them and what their significance is to the story.
I'm reading This Lullaby and I read 268-280. So far, Remy's mother is on her fifth marriage and believes it will be her last. Remy is going off to college at the end of the summer. She has a ruler about dating were after the romantic rush is over to give "the speech". She starts to change for one guy, Dexter, but that ends because he over hears a conversations were she says he is just a summer boyfriend. The introduction kind-of caught my attention because it jumps in it the story with out having all the extra stuff in the front. I would not change the beginning in any way.
1-73
Well, it's the third book in the series, so I'll try do say a brief summary before I get to this one.
Caution, here there be spoilers for the song of ice and fire series.
The Starks, the Lannisters, and the Baratheons overthrew the dragon king Aerys, but faild to kill two of his offspring. The head of the Barathons became king and took a reluctant Lannister for his wife, and some old dude as his right hand man. The right hand man discovers some Lannister secret and gets killed, so the head of the Stark family gets offered the position. One of The stark children spies Queeny Lannister getting it on with her bro, and brother lanny pushes him out of the window. This doesn't stop right hand stark at finding out the same secret and confronting queen Lannister about it. She decides to do the sensible thing and kills her husband, lops off the head of mr Stark, makes her son marry one of stark's daughters, and puts her incesty jerk son on the throne. This naturally rubs the stark and their loyal northmen the wrong way, and they take up arms. Down south, two brothers to the former king decide that they hold right to the throne, and start to quarrel over it. A boy stark is crowned king of the north, a bastard stark is sent to guard the far far north, and there are two kings to the south. Also, the dragon king's daughter across the sea found some dragons and is trying to get in on this massive mess. There is also a group of viking like dudes who want to rule everything as well. Thus concludes book one.
To summarize book two, one of the brothers down south kills the other with witchcraft, and starts marching north. One of the Lannisters, a man of very short stature, tries to stop the capitol of their power from revolting, while trying to make sure his sister and his nephew doesn't do something irredeemably stupid. The Baratheon eventually gets up north, and there's this massive battle. Thanks to the dwarf lannister's planning, all goes well for the jerk family. Up north, boy stark 1 is waging war, and boy starks 2 and 3 are trying to keep their city happy. That goes well until the viking dudes come and sack the whole place. Mama stark thinks her children are all dead or held captive, and goes near mad with greif, almost killing prisoner brother Lannister. further north, bastard stark and the night's watch are trying to hold back an army of savage and ice zombie demon guys.
I'm on page 73 of book 3, and so far, bastard stark had to betray his brethren to make sure the savages wouldn't overrun the south, dwarf Lannister has been kicked out of his position by his old man, all his plans ruined, jerk boy Lannister is no longer marrying girl stark 1, but some other girl, girl stark 2 has escaped imprisonment, brother lannister is being escorted to the capitol as a bargaining chip and the servant to Baratheon brother is stuck on a rock in the middle of a bay.
As for the introduction, yes it caught my attention, due to it being the first attack of the savages and ice demon zombie dudes.
I read from page 1 to page 14 of "Both Sides of Time". This far into the book I have been introduced to the main character, Annie, and Sean, who I suspect is also an important name in the book. They are boyfriend and girlfriend, high school students at the beginning of summer. The setting is a smaller town in New York in the 1990s, however it has already become evident that the time will switch to the 1890s. The Stratton Mansion, scheduled for demolition, looks to be one of the main locations. The start of the chapter seems somewhat boring, but as it progressed it became more interesting. The author was setting the stage for the action that has already begun, but I would have preferred more action upfront.
I have currently read the first four pages of Water for Elephants. The introduction was actually really good like it makes you want to continue to read. What has happened so far is that all the animals are loose in the zoo.. Someone has killed some old guy, I don't really know who he is. But the main character is looking for his love and he has just found her.
Chapter 1. page 1-10. Liz is this young girl at her grandmothers funeral. She is at the funeral and getting annoyed by people coming up to her saying sorry for your loss. Her, her mom, and her dad are getting ready to leave and a lady comes up to them and says you don't know me but I want you to know if you would like to reach Bunny (their grandmother) that she works at a church that reconnects with the dead and then she leaves and starts talking to the air. The family is freaked out. Liz and her mother are not very close but Liz and her grandmother were. So far they have just been at the cemetery. I thought it was a good start because it talked about how close she was with her grandmother and I am so that caught my attention.
i read pages 1-14. in those pages you meet the main character lennie. you also find out that her sister as just previously died. she is now going back to school after 4 weeks. she met a new boy at school that studied in france. he was described as very dreamy. everytime she finds a piece of paper she writes about things that have happened and conversations that her and her sister have had.
I have read to about page fifteen in "Can a Robot Be Human?" by Pater Cave. This is a humous philosophy book that goes through many different questions about life and how we life. Recently I read a chapter asking the reader to think about why people become so attached to fictional characters. There is never a definite answer to any of the questions, but it is interesting to think about. The theories that the author comes up with are hilarious. The introduction was just questions that he would answer and some jokes within it, so it definitely hooked me from the start.
I have read through page 120 of Waiting For Morning. So far we have been introduced to quite a few characters. The main focus is on a family who endures a tragic accident towards the beginning of the story. The rest so far has been their, along with some other involved characters, reactions to and dealing with this event. The introduction seemed very real, and it grabbed my attention right away because it was very relatable and made it seem like this could happen to anyone, which it could.
Pgs. 1-60
I'm reading Gone With the WInd. It's about a 16 year old girl named Scarlett O'Hara. She lives on a plantation in Georgia with her parents and two sisters. It is right before the Civil War. She hates people talking about the war because she thinks it's boring. She's also mad because the guy she likes is marrying this other girl she thinks is ugly. So far I like the book, but it runs on when describing things, so it loses me sometimes.
1-7 She just trapped and hunted and gave a brief background also she saw gale and his mom. She went to the black market as well. There isnt much about the plot yet but we know she is going back to the city for the victory tour and she doesnt really want to because she will have to fake her love again for her partner.
I am reading Forcing Gravity by Monica Alexander so far I have read pages 1 through 65 (chapter 5). The setting of this story takes place in California near Hollywood. Two of the main characters in the story on of them is a girl named Logan she moved to California and the other main character is Jace (Jason) Brady a famous actor. So far I can tell these two characters are going to have a messy relationship because of how different they are. The introduction of the book got me hooked right away because started of really funny and moved on from their.
I read pages 1-12 of Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Septeys. So far Lina's mother is telling her to pack all of the stuff that she can into a suitcase. Lina knows that something is wrong, but doesn't realize until later that NKVD officers are at their house to help them escape. The plot is going to be about their escape to a better life. The introduction really caught my attention because it was really fast paced, and it is already keeping my attention well.
During this time I have read up to Page 50 out of the book, Rich Dad Poor Dad. So far, the book has expressed the introduction to different views pertaining to finance and knowledge about money. The setting has taken place mostly around the author's home and the plot tends to push towards the points and opinions developing in the author's actions. The main characters are the author during his childhood, his rich dad, and his poor dad. The introduction caught and held my attention because it was about the business sense that I was looking for when I picked up this book.
I read pages 1-92. Miranda has found out her step mother is pregnant, and we get insight on what her family life is like. There's a short part about how the meteor hitting the moon has been on the news. Miranda seems like a typical 16 year old, dealing with normal girl problems.
I didn't like the intro too much. This book seems awful easy for my liking. I think if it was more challenging I'd like it more.
I read to page seven. In the first few pages, Mama has put baby Edward who is two months old into a pot of water because he will not stop crying and she is getting annoyed with his crying. The setting is in the south in the old days because they have slaves who help them around the house. The only characters that I have met are the mother and the girl telling the story and her name is Pegg. The introduction did catch my attention because it started off with saying how she thought her mother was crazy.
I have not started the book that I am going to read for this quarters project. I am finishing the last book in the "Inkheart" trilogy. In this book I am just coming to the end but there is still so much that I feel should happen. As of right now the people are hiding in huge nests in tall trees attempting to hide from enemies and giants. While across the land there is another one of them that is caught in a cage because a king, the Adderhead, is planning to kill him because, the bluejay, had made a book the would make him 'immortal' which in turn it is doing the opposite and killing him slowly.
From just looking at the cover and reading the back of the book I plan to read for this quarter it did catch my attention and it is about a child with autism which very much interests me. The book is called "Look me in the eyes" with a child and his eyes closed on the front of the book. I am excited to start reading this book because I love reading about kids and people with autism and learning about what happens.
I read pages 1- 24. The 2 main characters Mark and Bryon, and also M&M who is a really weird hippy kid. They went to a bowling alley and M&M left by himself, 2 guys came out of the alley and jumped him. So Mark and Bryon ran up behind the guys who were attacking M&M and they beat them up. Yes it did, because it started out with a lot of action.
I've read 800 pages of 1400 of The Green Mile. So far, John Coffey has been introduced and brought to a prison to be executed, while Paul Edgecombe, the narrator, is bent on provide Coffey innocent.
I have read pages 1-20. So far, A boy that goes by the nickname "Tree", because of his height, is spending time at the Veterans hospital where his grandfather is staying after having his leg removed. He enjoys spending time with his grandpa. He talks about his grandfather being in the Vietnam war and talks about his family and friends and the conflicts going on within his family.
Today I read pages 1 - 11. I do not know much about the setting, or the plot of the story. However, I do know that main character Tarrel is an ex attorney. And in her hometown in Louisiana somebody is killing young women. However, she is just coming home for a vacation and doesn't know what is going on. The introduction is pretty slow, and I am not sure how much I am going to like this book...
I read pages 1 - 16. A pilot's wife was informed the her husband had passed away when flying to Scotland. She was told by two men from the union. She broke down immediately and they comforted her for quite some time. The setting is in present day I would assue and I do know that the husband's name is Jack and they had one daughter name Kathryn. The introduction was very intense with the big news. I am actually excited to really get into the book.
I read pages 1 to 13 in my book, The Chase by Clive Cluster. So far in the book a train was pulled up out of the water with two dead men in it, but they were murdered. The only guy to call is a man named Alexander, who is the best detective around. The book started off kind of slow and I don't know how much longer I will read it. So far I am not a huge fan of it, because it is kind of boring for a murder book. If they chose a different way the people were murdered it would have been more cool.
The Navy has a special force team that they send in if nobody else can get the job done. SEAL Team Six is a group of people that are the best of the best. He starts off the book by describing a flash back of the battle on September 18, 1993, in Mogadishu, Somalia. The introduction was very good because it started with something that caught my attention and made me want to keep reading. A warlord ruled a town and controlled the population buy controlling the food.
I am reading "Lies Chelsea Handler Told Me" by Chelsea's friends, family, and other victims. It's definitely an interesting read although I am only about fifteen pages in. I can already tell that the characters are stimulating and that this book will easily keep me entertained. All that I've basically read so far is that Chelsea gives Johnny a lot of wedgies.
