English III & IV: Quarter 2 Question 1 on Personal Choice Book- Due 12/5!

Tell me a little bit about your new book choice. What book did you choose to read for this next book project? Why did you select this book? In the few pages you have read, what impressions do you get about the setting, characters, plot, etc? Has the introduction captured your attention already? Why or why not? What specifically is good or bad about the introduction, and what would you do to change it if has not not captured your attention right away?

Be sure to elaborate on your response! I don't want to see a bunch of simple sentences!

Example of a "not so good" answer:

"I chose Hunger games. Chose it cuz it is good and there is a movie. I read 10 pages and didn't get any impressions. I think it is going to be so good though. The introduction has captured my attention,  and I am looking forward to the rest of it."

I chose the book And we Danced by Toni Mari. I selected this book, because it is about horses and what i do with my horses.I think the setting is in current day and the main characters are Jane, Cory, and Kate. I think the book is moving fast at some parts but is also really detailed and gives you a good image. The book has caught my attention because there has already been some action and i can relate to what has happened. I think the action and describing what is going on right away is really helpful and drew me into the book and how Jane is feeling. If i could change something about the book, I would have explained the characters a little more because right away at the beginning i was a little confused.

I chose to read Forever Odd because it is the sequel of the last book that I read. It seemed like a good idea because I loved Odd Thomas and I want to find out what else happens to Odd. The impression that I have of the book right now is undefined because the story is picking up from right where the previous book left off. The setting is in the same place as the first book and the characters are still the same except some of them have deceased. I have to keep reading to find out what happens next to Odd, but I'm sure it will be something new and exciting because Dean Koontz is a very talented author. So far the introduction doesn't have my attention because nothing important has happened yet. Nothing is bad about the introduction because it's just the start of the book, you just have to keep reading on until the book catches your attention.

I choose the book "Boat Camp" by Todd Strasser. I choose this book because I thought that it was interesting book after hearing it's presentation. I like military books so I decide to pick it. The book starts off with a man having a conversation with a taxis driver and really get your attention. They don't say the main characters name in the first chapter but its first person narrative. I like how the book starts off with an everyday drive and you can relate what he's going through. He talks about his day and the battle of school.

The book that I chose to read is Divergent by Veronica Roth. I have heard many good things about this book series. It is somewhat based off of the Hunger Games and I enjoyed that series. The setting seems like it takes place in the future but by some of the things the author describes about the house, it also seems like it could take place in this time period. The characters that have been introduced in my book are Beatrice who goes by Tris and her brother Caleb. In the time they live in, when kids turn 16, they have to take a test to see what faction they are going to be in and there is not a way for the kids to prepare for the test. Yes, the intro captured my attention because it gave a brief intro of the characters and then it started talking about the different factions and the test that they have to take. I did like that they gave brief information about the characters and setting because it did not bore me. I would have changed it to where the kids are taking the test then have it talk about days prior to taking the test.

I chose The Fields Of Fall because it is about high school football in the state of Iowa. I have gotten the impression that there isn't really a setting. It is all over since it talks about specific high school teams across the state. There aren't really main characters since it is basically a bunch of interviews of football coaches in Iowa.

I chose the book "Acceleration" by Graham McNamee. I like books that have some sort of mystery and suspense to them so that is why I had chose this book. Right off the bat you can understand it pretty well. It gives you setting and characters and explains them very thoroughly. The main character is the one telling the story so you are only able to get his view on everything and not others. The first sentence is, "This is a nightmare." Right there, I know that something interesting is going to happen and it is going to be a mystery. I am already into chapter 5 of this book and it has had my attention the whole way through.

I chose a book called, Forever. I selected this book because i've had friends who read it, and they said it was very good, so i thought I would try it out for myself. The setting of this story is probably a modern setting. I'm imagining it to be a bigger town, with lots of close neighbors. Katherine and Michael are the main characters so far, and at the beginning they meet at a party. I am very interested in my book so far. I feel like since they're teenagers like me, I'll be able to connect more. What's good is that the romance is just starting, and it's making me want to read more!

I am reading the book Stand Tall by Joan Bauer and I have read 10 of the 185 pages. This book seems to be very interesting and bout some war going on in the day and about a boy loosing his father. I dont know what to predict what its going to be about...!

I chose to read Dan Brown's Inferno. It is the latest installment to the Robert Langdon series. So far there is mass chaos which is a reason I like Dan Brown. I feel that this book will be just as good if not better than the previous three in the series. I have read the first chapter and so far it has kept me on my toes. I am looking forward to reading the rest of it.

The book I chose to read is called, The Old Wilderness Road. I chose this book just because of the title. I like outdoor, western, action type of books and from the title I thought that this book might be related to a least one of those topics. Within the first few pages I knew I was going to like it. I haven't met any characters yet but from the description of the setting and time period, I know it will be my kind of book. The story takes place during the Daniel Boone era in the Appalachian mountains. The time period and setting are perfect for me. The book has definitely caught my attention and made me wanting to read on. It's hard to find a book that I like but within the first chapter I can usually tell, and this one is the right one.

I'm reading The Green Mile by Stephen King. I chose to read this book because I've never read a Stephen King book before, but he's really popular so I thought his books must be good. It's about a prison guard who works on Death Row. I get the impression that the main character is going to have to make some choices about what is right or wrong, even if that means breaking the law or going against what his job is supposed to be. The introduction hasn't really captured my attention. It's not bad, but it's kind of boring. It's interesting for a couple pages then it loses me for a while.

I am reading Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers. I thought the cover looked interesting and the synopsis on the inside captured my attention. The main character, Ismae, has a long scar on her body from her mother's failed abortion. This marks her as a daughter of Mortain, the god/saint of death. Her father hates her, her mother is dead, and her new husband is disgusted by her, so an old priest helps her. He sends her to a convent of women who serve Mortain where she will learn the ways of murder, whether it be poison, weaponry, etc... I am very excited to read on in this book because the introduction was intriguing. My favorite part of the introduction was the first sentence. "I bear a deep red stain that runs from my left shoulder down to my right hip, a trail left by the herbwitch's poison that my mother used to try to expel me from her womb." That sentence raised a lot of questions that kept me reading.

My new book is a Christmas story about a family owned store that will someday be passed down to a son who is working as a manager in the toy department and just bought five hundred Telly the Super robot toys that he thinks they can sell in two weeks. However, his did is upset and doesn't see anyway that this can happen. I am at the point in my book that a lady named Mrs. Merkle, or Mrs. Miracle has come into the store and whats to help but she has not said anything else. I selected this book because I saw glimpses of the movie and it sounded very heartfelt and interesting and i found the book for it and instantly wanted to read it and what happens then I can compare it to the movie. I really like this book the plot is in New York City in a store named Finley's and this is a relatively short book so they are introducing characters, settings , and plots fast and toward the very beginning of the book but Debbie Macomber, the author, is doing a very good job at describing these things to what other people say about the person or place and the dialog a person has how they show their personality through the dialog. This introduction is very interesting and captured my attention and I want to read more to learn what this "Mrs. Miracle" lady is going to do in the book and how she is going to be a part of this story. I think the introduction is very good for the most part. There is a lot of information so it could be hard to take in and understand right away for some people but I find it very well written and the characters are explained very well. I would not change anything about this book so far.

I chose the book The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I chose the book, because I have a friend from Texas who said that she really liked it a lot and that she thought that I would like it a lot too. I had heard a lot of great things about it, so I thought that I would give it a try. And I actually just finished reading it, it's 313 pages and I read it in about 5-6 days. It definitely drew me in from the beginning. I couldn't put it down. The setting is mainly in the "Literal Heart of Jesus" or a church in Indianapolis. It also takes place in Amsterdam to meet her favorite author Peter VanHouten. The plot is really interesting. It's about a girl named Hazel with cancer who meets a boy named Augustus Waters. They fall in love in a weird sort of way, not the way you expect 17 year olds to do. They fall in love, because they accept each other the way that you should when you love someone. Augustus has osteosarcoma and is in remission. Then suddenly, it comes back with a vengeance. He gets very sick and ends up dying and Hazel was devastated. The characters in this book made it amazing. When you read, you tend to get attached to the characters, but in my case, and in many girls across the world, that I have read about anyways, have fallen in love with Augustus Waters. But I wouldn't call it love I guess, but more of an admiration of the way he is with Hazel. The way he is and the way he talks. This definitely makes the book a lot more interesting.

I choose to read Lord of the Flies. I have always wanted to read this book, so I decided to pick it this time. It seems like the book is going to be interesting since it's a survival book. Survival books are always interesting to me. The intro seems to give enough that you understand what is happening/happened, but you are still interested to know for sure. I would say it captured my attention because I want to know what is going to happen.

I chose the book Divergent by Veronica Roth. the reason why I picked out this book is because my sister has read it and said that is is very good, and I have heard the same comments from a few other people who have read this book. I also chose it because it has a higher exile than that of the last book that I read.
I have read the first Chapter (7 pages) of Divergent. So far it seems like it will be very interesting and full of action and choices. The setting is in Chicago and The main character is Beatrice Prior. Her brother Caleb and her mother and father have also been introduced. There are these five different societies of people in the city called factions. These factions are dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue. There is Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Beatrice and her family are Abnegation. Today is the day that all the 16-year-olds take the aptitude test to show them which faction would suit them best, and then they choose where they want to live the rest of their life. Beatrice and Caleb are both 16. The introduction has definitely captured my attention. Beatrice seems like she is torn between where she wants to live based on her attitude, however, I cannot yet tell where she will choose. I would not change anything about the introduction. It was clear and made the setting and factions easy to understand for a new reader to this particular book.

The book that I am presently reading is called "In The Shadow of The Banyan" by Vaddey Ratner. So far it is a wonderful book with lots of description and details. I'm not going to say that it's a "good" book because it is about the aftermath of the war of Vietnam in Cambodia. In other words it is "the Civil War" off Cambodia. I chose this book because I had to pick a memoir for Novels class. So far i give this book a 3 out of 5 stars because the first 3 chapters were really slow. Now the action of the book is starting to pick up.

I chose to read Divergent. I have heard from others that this book is particularly good, and have heard great things about it. I liked The Hunger Games, and this seems to be somewhat like those books, so I figured I would like this book as well. The setting is somewhat futuristic, much like The Hunger Games. The book is based in a futuristic Chicago. The characters also remind me of The Hunger Games. The main character, Beatrice, is a thought of as a strong individual. It has already captured my attention, because it is so different from the world today. There are these things called factions, which are basically based off of one personality trait. The choosing ceremony is where individuals pick a faction to spend their lives in. I cannot imagine living under only one characteristic, and following this characteristic every single day. I like the way the author describes everything. It had the potential to be very confusing, with the factions and all the differences in the culture from today. Yet, the author describes the factions, and Beatrice in a way allows the audience to understand. I would not change the introduction at all, it is very well thought-out, and worked very well for me.

I chose The Host because I enjoy reading Stephanie Meyer literature. I have read about 6 pages and I'm intrigued by what is currently happening within the plot. The young woman who was abducted and now is a host for a alien life form is still alive and trying to fight back and seeing if the alien inside her is trustworthy enough to have her go to her family.

I chose The Fields Of Fall because it is about high school football in the state of Iowa and I can easily connect to it because I love playing high school football. I have gotten the impression that there isn't really a setting. There is not much of a setting because the author went around to different schools across the state to learn more about them and their traditions. The main characters would probably be the high school players and their coaches since the book is about them playing and coaching. So far, the book is a bunch of interviews that the author conducted with different coaches and former players that made a difference to their communities and teams.

I am reading the book "The Boy Who Dared".I selected this book because i figured that there might be a lot of action and stuff might actually happen unlike my last book.In the first 10 pages I read ,it seems that he is in a prison.I think it is taking place in Germany.Yes , the book has got my attention already because there is action.

The Book that has been chosen by me is the Son Of Neptune. I have previously read the other series so with the compelling words and conflicts that go on in the books I feel like i will get a nice grip on this book. Being in the first few pages I know the main character is A demiGod named Percy, who has been the lead character throughout the other books. The Beginning of the book already comes out with a brilliant chase scene and the action begins as percy is being chased by creatures call the Gorgon's (close relation to the creature Known are Medusa). With the beginning starting out now the creature never die they just burst into dust and regenerate with a certain time. As I read deeper I will have thrilling adventures like a kid getting candy.

I chose this book because its about travel to another planet, venus, to find its teeming with life with its own form of humans, and Neanderthals. i am about 10 pages in and the main character mark vitrak has just arrived on venus. it has my attention because its venus and it has dinosaurs what science buff wouldn't be interested.

I decided to read the book, The Sacred Acre, The Ed Thomas Story, by Mark Tabb. I selected this book because I am somewhat familiar with the Ed Thomas Story, but I only know the main part of it. I am very interested in it and want to learn more about and get an inside look of it. Also, I love the game of football. I fell like I will learn something from this book. Also, it is about a high school coach from Iowa. So far I like the book. Ed Thomas, who the book is about, seems to be a great man who everyone in the community loved. So far all they are talking about is the begging of Ed's career as a coach and how he treated his field better than anyone else in the state. Nothing too exciting has happened, but the book has got my attention and I keep on reading. In the beginning all they are talking about is his field. I think they should have started out by telling some background information about Ed, his family, and the community.

I picked the book The Divide, by Elizabeth Kay. I chose it because it takes place in an alternate universe, where mythical creatures and magic exist, while humans don't, and that's the type of book that I enjoy. In the pages that I have read, I've gotten the impression that the main character, who stumbled upon a portal to the other universe, is going to learn more about himself, and become stronger through his hardships. The introduction has captured my attention, because it has introduced fantasy creatures, and I like those. The introduction is good, because it gradually tells the main character's story while he journeys through the land.

I am reading Earlham Iowa Centennial. I selected it because this book covers the history behind Earlham from 1870 to 1970. I read the first page and it is a message from the mayor from 1970, Raymond S. Flinn, explaining how they created this centennial to commemorate Earlham's history. I'm excited to read it because I want to know more about Earlham and how it became a town.

The novel that I have chose to read for this quarter is Night Star, by Alyson noel. I chose this novel because it is the fifth book of the series and I have read all books prior. I was very compelled to read this book specifically, due to the fact that in the previous series, there has been several conflicts and this novel is supposed to start tying up loose ends so that all the mysteries can come to a close. So far from what I have read, the setting is a typical high school in California -- the same setting as the previous books in the series -- and the main characters are Ever and Damen. Two star-crossed lovers who have been waiting to be together for more than one-hundred years (they are immortal) but cannot seem to overcome obstacles in order to be together. The main focus of the novel so far, is that Ever’s best friend Haven is seeking revenge on her for putting an end to Haven’s boyfriend after he had tried to kill her. In Ever’s eyes, she was not in the wrong, but according to Haven, Ever must experience the loss of someone close to her to get even, so this puts Ever and Damen in a state of distress as they try to stay out of trouble. The introduction of this novel, in my opinion, was very well written and perfectly ties in with the rest of the series. Each book focuses on a different relationship and the relationship between Ever and Haven is definitely one that I have been wanting to read. The beginning was started off with an argument between the two, which set a very intense tone for the rest of the novel. I am very excited to read further and find out if Haven and Ever rebuild their friendship!

I am reading the book The Duck Commander Family: How Faith, Family, and Ducks Built a Dynasty. I read 15 pages into it and immediately I found myself interested in it. The main reason I picked this book is because I've always been a fan of their t.v show so this is very interesting for me to know more about the family. It's a biography about the Robertson family and so far it's talking about what it was life growing up. That's what really caught my attention in the intro because I have watched the show many times and I've always wondered what these guys do when they aren't being filmed? This gives more of a background and you can find out more. Also they are hilarious...

The book I'm reading is The Kill Order by James Dashner. I chose to read this book because it is the prequel to The Maze Runner series that I have already read. The books in the series were some of my favorite books. They had a lot of action in them like The Hunger Games. So far, I've only read the first few chapters. It takes place in the future before sun flares hit the earth and destroyed the world mankind took for granted. The main characters are Mark and Trina who survived the sun flares. I haven't gotten to the part where the sun flares hit, but it is mentioned on the flap on the cover. The introduction hasn't really caught my attention yet because they're still introducing the characters and setting the stage for what is going to happen. In most books, I don't find the introductions particularly interesting. I wouldn't change anything about it though because I want to know the lead up before the big climax hits. I can't wait to find out what happens.

I am Reading The Afterlife by Gary Soto. I selected this book, because we are reading it in MTV. We were given a list of books. I selected it because it is about a murder and the afterlife of a boy. The first chapter was about him getting murder by some other kids, but these kids are more young adults. Then he is kinda just floating around the town visiting his friends to see how they reacted to his death. Maybe I would change the way he die. Well I won't say how he died because that is chapter one, but I will say that I would not like to die that way.The thing that got my attention was the time in which he died. Like they talked about his breathing and his gasping for air and then he kinda dies for a few seconds then came back to life.

The book I chose was, Killing Floor. It was written by Charles Lee. This book is the first book of the series of Jack Reacher. He is an ex-military man that was on the police force. He is a giant man who is very smart. the first chapter of the book is about him getting arrested, and accused of murder.

I choose the book Code Orange by Caroline B. Cooney. The first thing I noticed was the bright cover so I read the back cover and this book seems pretty action packed and thrilling which are two traits I like in a book. It starts out with Mitty's teacher assigning him with an infectious disease project and then it starts giving background on the characters which is pretty boring but you have to do that in a book so you know whats happening. Im sure this book will pickup soon something will happen. I would have opened with something about small pox because thats what this book is about and then tell about the characters.

I chose the book Flying Changes, by Sara Gruen. I have read the first book of this series of books by Sara Gruen last year for my english project in 10th grade, Riding Lessons. I enjoyed this book, because it showed a view of horses from a different point of view. The main character in the book had a deep connection with horses. I can connect to that, and I never wanted to stop reading the book. It made me want to keep on reading, so I choose to read this book. I have read 17 pages in this book so far. In the beginning of this book, I can tell the main character, which the book is told from her point of view, is a very protective mother. The setting is held at Maple Brook horse farm, with the time being in the 1990s. The beginning starts as Annemarie, the main character starts dreaming about her past. She wakes up in a startle, because she was dreaming about her horse that had died. How she was riding on his back, free. Then she wakes up and goes to start the barn chores and notices her horse, Hurrah, is not in his stall. She comes upon her daughter, Eva who is riding her horse bareback with no helmet about to jump of fence. Annemarie stops her and get flustered with her. That's where I have stopped. The beginning has caught my attention already. The descriptive way Annemarie explains riding horses bareback inspires me, because I love to ride bareback too. "The reason is simple: I ride bareback because I want nothing between me and my horse" (Gruen, pg.5). Another reason why it captures my attention, is because there's already some action and tension between a daughter and mother. Annemarie is worried that her daughter won't make the jump, because Annemarie's horse is blind, she's wearing no helmet, and she's bareback. Reading about action with horses catches my attention. Sara Gruen did a great job starting off this book, with using this action.

I'm reading "Dark of the Moon". My mother said it was a good book and I'm on page 6. So far I'm getting a good feeling so far. I believe the main character is moonie. I see him a 20 or a 23 year man with black hair. who is a big rocker and who's a little crazy somewhat remind me of chey. So far there a old man getting murder by get set on fire by moonie.

I chose the Book Hunger Games 2, Catching Fire, I chose this book because i really like the first Hunger Games book because it was really interesting and kept me interested the whole time. I think that this book is going to be a lot like the first book because it has the same main characters and i believe it is going to be just as exciting. The introduction is okay because it kind of just happens i guess, it isn't the most exciting or clear beginning but it was alright.

I chose The Black Boy for my book. I chose this book because that book stood out. The introduction was pretty eventful because in the first 3 pages the kid started the house on fire. If it can keep being exiting through the whole book it could be okay.

pages 1-10
I chose the book the Mark of Athena because its the next book i need to read in my series since i have read the Lost Hero and the Son of Neptune. before i get into my book and all ill tell you fist about the first two so you know what i'm saying. this series is about the greek and roman gods and there are two camps a roman camp which is in California, and the greek camp in new your on the edge of long island. Through the series it goes through of how the two leaders of the camps which for the roman camp its Jason and for the greek camp its Percy. when they switch camps not knowing it till the end of each book to where they find out that the bigger threat is Gea the goddess of the earth that has been asleep for millennia and now she has awaken and is causing a lot of trouble and now these two camps need to come together and defeat Gea. At the end of the book the son of neptune the greek camp decided to take a war ship to the roman camp to have a friendly meeting which at this point Jason has been at Percy's camp and vice versa and need to get things straight and stop Gea.

The book already caught my attention since i"m really like the series and i think and hope its a good book

I am excited to finish this book because i believe i will have something to learn from it. I am also concerned because im not sure if theres really a plot but just many lessons to learn, so i may have to switch books.

I chose "The Silver Blade" as it takes place in an olden time of france when the guillotine was still majorly in use. In the little bit I have read so far the main character will be a hero for the innocent I believe. The main bad guy I think will be a french count with a twisted sense of humor. I tend to be into books like this so it has got my attention so far.

I chose to read the book The Year of Fog by Michelle Richmond. The reason that I chose this book is because the description on the back of the book made it sound really good. That the book is going to be very because the amount of detail that the author has in writing is really good. The thing that caught my attention the most was that in the first 2 chapters Emma was kidnapped which makes you want to keep reading so you know what happens to her.

I am reading the book the jury. I found this book while looking for my last book project book. It was written by my favorite author, John Grisham, so I decided to check it out and read it as a free reading book but then we were given the choice for this quarter.I have only read 20 pages so far. But so far, I have discovered that this mans life is in the jury's hands. That really drew me in. It has the mystery component. Making me wonder, will this man survive. From so far, I can infer things about the characters, plots, and settings. I think that all of these elements will be complex. I assume that because Grisham is a very good author, he describes everything, down to the very little quirk. That is why I think Grisham is such a great author. That is why the intro is so good. Because the description is so well detailed. As of yet, I have not placed what is bad about this book yet. I am still looking though.

I chose the book The Energy Bus. It looks to be an inspirational book that could have useful tips for later in life. The character, George, goes through many challenges but Jon Gordon, the author, will show positivity throughout the book and how it is the best thing in every situation. As of right now in the 10 pages that I have read I think I will be able to learn a lot of from George and his stories. The introduction did a good job of grabbing my attention and describing the beginning of the book as well as the general plot. I was inspired just by the first 10 pages so I'm sure I will like the rest.

I started to read Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom. I chose this book because when Iwas looking through books the title jumped out at me and sounded interesting. The book starts with the main character Mitch graduating from Brandeis University. His favorite Professor is named Morrie Schwartz. Mitch has taken all of his classes and buys him a briefcase that he gives him at graduating. That is what has happened so far in the book. I don't really like the beginning because the story starts with Mitch graduating college and it is confusing what is going on because their is a lack of background knowledge.

I am reading the book "The Raft" by S.A. Bodeen. I chose this book, because I like survival books, and this book is about a girl, Robie, who got into a plane crash. I got it at this years book fair. When I walked into the library it was the first thing I noticed, because the cover really caught my attention. I read the back and it looked like a fun read. In the few pages I have read, I have got the impression that Robie is kind of a rule breaker. She doesn't listen to her parents and often flies back and forth from her home and her aunts house, to help her keep in line. She seems to act better whenever she gets back from her aunts. It seems to me that her aunt gives her a little more freedom than her parents do, so she doesn't feel the need to break the rules as much. I think Robie is a person who doesn't like being told what to do, and like doing what she wants whenever she wants to do it. The story has so far taken place at her aunts house, but I know it will change here soon when it gets to the plane crash. I predict that the plane will have problems when she on her way back home from her aunt's house, and that she will be pretty much on her own, maybe even be the only one to survive the plane crash. I think the introduction was kind of weird. It caught mu attention a little, but it should have started differently. The very first sentence in the story is' " The dude with the lime green mohawk dark wooden plugs in his earlobes looked down at me, the long silver handle in his rubber gloved hand pointed directly at my face." I do like that it starts off very descriptive with lots of imagery. I could start picturing the story as soon as it began.

I have selected the book "Cross" by James Patterson, because someone recommended it to me based on my love of mystery and action. Now, I may end up switching by time the end of the quarter rolls around, but hey I'll give this one a shot. Anyways, the first few pages (the chapters in this book are REALLY short, and when I mean really short, I mean they are maybe a page or two!) we meet Alex Cross, a Detective who loves his job. He is one of the best at what he does and his team always gets the best cases to work on. This has captured my attention to a certain extent, but I wish there was more action. I understand that you need to identify the main characters, but a little action never hurt anybody (well, you know what I mean). My first impressions of the book are good in the fact that that it seems to be a fairly easy read. I like that each of the main characters are different, and if you don't like one, odds are you will like the other. I am excited to read this book this quarter.

I choose the book Mocking Jay By Suzanne Collins. I pick this book because I have read The Hunger games and Catching Fire so I figured why shouldn't I read the last book of the series. Plus I have heard it is a very good book, not as good as the other two but Suzanne does a great job in finishing off the series. It starts off kind of sad in all like she gets back to her home and it is all burned down and she see all the things from the past that are all gone. So I am hoping it is not going to be all sad through the whole book but it still seems pretty interesting. The introduction just kind of tells you how because of the hunger games and everything Katniss's life is changed forever. If it was me writing the introduction I would have started with like a little flash back from the games and talk a little bit about the previous book to get the reader back into the mind of what has happened. It seems like it is going to be a pretty good book.

I chose to read the book "Ask The Bones," by Arielle Olson and Howard Schwartz. It is a book with many short stories in it. So far I have read one short story and it was very interesting and kept my attention. I think by it having multiple stories in it, I won't get bored reading it. The story I read was about a haunted forest and how no one who went into it ever came out.

My book is A Thunderous Whisper by Christiana Diaz Gonzalez, I chose it because it looked interesting. I like to read books that seem realistic and this one seemed like it would be. Its about a girl that does not feel important. Her dad is in the Spanish War. She is very close to her dad, they like to tell stores together. Her parents work with sardines, dad catching them and mom selling them. The introduction has captured me. I want to know why people pick on her.

I chose to read Pendragon: Quillion Games. I picked this because i have heard good things about this series and this book seemed to be the most interesting. It has a very weird setting and interesting concepts. The setting is in a different type of place being a huge city where people play games to survive. The main character Bobby is around my age so i can relate to him. It has because there was action right off the bat with Bobby killing these things called "quigs" basically nasty beasts that guards entrances to the different worlds.

The book of my choice was World War Z. Reason being, I'd seen the movie and many people were upset that the book was far superior and was not done justice by the movie. It's kept my attention, it was written brilliantly- each chapter is a different story by someone the main character is interviewing. Essentially, it's a section of short stories, each based on a different person's point of view, including their jobs and roles, making for a thorough storytelling of the zombie war. It's an excellent book so far.

I chose the book Chains because it looked like the type of genre I'm not used to reading. I usually choose something a little more modern for teenagers, but this looked like it would be a good book. I guess you could say I judged a book by a cover, but I can honestly say that a year or so ago I would not have picked this book to read.
Within the first few pages of the book it just starts by introducing characters and a major conflict. It didn't completely capture my attention, but it told me some key points to the book that I will probably need to know. I liked how it set me up to see how the main character is neglected and told me some background. I wouldn't change the introduction because I'd rather have character descriptions in the beginning than throughout the entire book because it would get confusing.

I chose the book Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. I chose this book because I have seen the movie and I thought it had a nice, developed plot and it kept my attention. I have also heard good things about Alice Sebold as well. I enjoy reading books that are both murders and things of that nature, so I thought I would try this out. The book is about a girl named Susie who was walking home from school one day and her neighbor stops her on the sidewalk telling her he had something to show her. She believed she could trust him, but what she didn't know was that he was a serial killer. The introduction has definitely caught my attention. It has drawn great visuals for me to see, even though I've already seen the movie.

I am planning on reading The Fountainhead. I originally was going to read The Idiot, but this caught my attention more than Dostoevsky’s book. I am very interested in older literature, and especially having read Atlas Shrugged, I am particular to Ayn Rand. Her descriptions are perfect, creating a movie in your mind at every turn of the page. The intro was fine. It was not boring in any way, and managed to keep me reading for about ten or twelve more pages before putting the book down to actually read the back cover. I would not suggest any changes. The book is great so far!

For this reading, I choose to read Lost by James Patterson. I choose this book, because the summary of the book kind of caught my eye. James Patterson is also one of my favorite authors. He usually does a good job with his books and keeping the readers interested. In the few pages I've read, I get "feelings" that the book is going to keep me on the edge of my seat, or wondering what is going to happen next. The introduction has caught my eye. It actually caught my eye fairly quickly, because the author got to the main idea very quickly at the start of the book. I wouldn't change anything about this book, so far. James Patterson has kept me turning the pages and wanting to read more.

My book is told in a 1st person point of view. I think that this makes the book more interesting and gives it a cool perspective. the book would be less interesting because there wouldn't be as much action or intensity. In this book there isn't really a bad guy so its hard to see it in that point of view. Im sure the audience would think different of the characters if it were told from a different point of view because the person who would be telling the story could have a different perspective on the actual main character. So my book would be alot less interesting if the point of view changed
